Dr. Laurence Gunde, Country Director - CMMB South Sudan
With more than 15 years of experience in medicine, public health, and international development, Laurence has worked alongside governments, donors, and communities to strengthen health systems and deliver sustainable health solutions in complex settings across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Prior to joining CMMB, he served in leadership and technical roles with several Global Health entities including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Dr. Laurence holds a medical degree from the University of Malawi and a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is currently completing a Master of Business Administration with Heriot-Watt University. He is also a Public Health Emergency Management Fellow from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.
Dr. Gunde is passionate about empowering teams, fostering strong partnerships, and promoting accountability to achieve sustainable impact. As Country Director, he is committed to strengthening CMMB’s work in South Sudan, expanding its reach among vulnerable communities, and advancing the organization's mission of improving health and human dignity.
Under his leadership, CMMB South Sudan continues to work alongside communities, government institutions, donors, and partners to create lasting improvements in health and well-being for the people of South Sudan.
