Years of civil conflict have severely damaged the healthcare and social service systems in South Sudan. Health facilities face shortages of doctors, nurses, and other health professionals, equipment, and medicines. With healthcare facilities overburdened and hard to access, many people in South Sudan mistrust healthcare professionals and turn to local healers instead.
Since 2009, CMMB South Sudan has been working to improve the country’s health systems. In Nzara County, we support St. Theresa Hospital with partners to enhance care for women, newborns, and young children. We also train staff and donate critical equipment, like ambulances. In other parts of South Sudan’s Western Equatoria state, we provide pharmacy supplies, fund health facility infrastructure, and deploy community health workers—developing stronger systems to respond to ongoing health crises.
