Improving Care in South Sudan

CMMB South Sudan is working to reduce the impact of infectious diseases like HIV/AIDs and help people live longer, healthier lives.

In South Sudan, 140,000 adults and children are living with HIV—and the actual number of people who are HIV positive is likely higher. That’s because many people in South Sudan do not know their HIV status, due to both the stigma that deters people from getting tested and limited healthcare access for those needing treatment. Without testing and treatment, the risk of mother-to-child transmission is high, which can have tragic consequences for children’s survival.

CMMB South Sudan is working to expand HIV prevention, care, and treatment across 13 counties in the Western and Central Equatoria States, using an innovative model that reaches people at health facilities and in their communities. By delivering consistent antiretroviral therapy to pregnant women living with HIV, we can help eliminate new infections in newborns.
