“Some days I could only get about 20 liters,” Kakau recalls. “It wasn’t enough for drinking, washing, or cooking. And standing for long hours was very hard for me.”

The long queues often stretched from early morning to late afternoon. With limited access, misunderstandings among community members became common. For families like Kakau’s, water scarcity meant daily stress, difficult choices, and strained relationships.

But everything changed when CMMB, with generous support from B&C, installed a new water yard in Moriyok.

The new system includes multiple tap points, allowing several community members to fetch water at once. For the first time in many years, Moriyok residents can collect clean water without long waits or conflict.

In the image, a community member balances a clear container of fresh water at the new water point a symbol of renewed dignity and relief for the entire village.

“Now I can get enough water for my home,” says Kakau. “I come, fill my container, and go back quickly. Life is calmer. We call it Móya ta Salam (water of peace).”

Thanks to the partnership between CMMB and B&C, water scarcity is no longer a daily struggle. Families have more time for farming, children can attend school without delays, and harmony within the community has been restored.

Moriyok’s story is a powerful reminder that water is more than a basic need it is peace, health, and hope for a better future.
